A practical guide from someone who knows these early years.
Dr. Michelle Peterson is an early childhood educator, researcher, educational leader, and the founder of Spark Academy, a play-based preschool in Morton, Illinois.
Her resources bring together classroom experience and doctoral research on peer engagement through play, with practical support for the adults who care for young children.
Created for families everywhere, wherever your child attends preschool. These resources are optional and are not required for enrollment at Spark.
A few things to know.
Which resource should I choose?
Choose the Parent Guide for explanations and practical guidance, the Printable Toolkit for pages to use with your family or classroom, or the Complete Bundle for both. The bundle costs $14.95, saving $3.95 compared with purchasing the two resources separately.
How do I get my files?
Your purchase takes place on Payhip, which handles payment and access to the downloads. The Complete Bundle checkout asks you to create an account or log in so you can access both resources. Each paid product includes a ZIP package containing the color PDF, low-ink PDF and a Read Me. The bundle gives you both product packages. No printed book will be mailed.
How should I print them?
Use US Letter paper (8.5 × 11 inches) and print at actual size / 100%. Choose only the pages you need. The low-ink editions contain the same content and page numbers as the color editions.
Can I type into the forms?
The printables are designed for handwriting. They are not editable documents or interactive forms.
Can I share these with my classroom families?
One purchase covers one household or one educator and their enrolled classroom families. You may print or privately share the PDFs with those families. Other educators need their own licenses. Please do not resell, publicly post, or redistribute the files outside that group.
Is this a developmental screening?
No. These resources provide educational information and everyday practice ideas. Readiness check-ins are not developmental screenings and do not replace individualized advice, evaluation or your preschool’s policies.
A little guidance for a big beginning.
